Specialised Pilates equipment offers more benefits than simple matwork because it allows you to take advantage of the variable resistance offered by the springs to improve strength and movement control. You perform positions that would otherwise be impossible. In addition, the mobile parts of these tools make it easier to obtain smooth and controlled movements. This stimulates the search for balance on the one hand and offers stability and control on the other.
It is the central tool in the Pilates methodology and the most versatile. It allows for stretching, strengthening, mobility and balance exercises. It consists of a series of springs, ropes and straps connected to a mobile cart. Using the arms and legs, inserted into the straps, it pushes the body forwards or backwards on the mobile carriage overcoming the resistance offered by the springs and the body weight. The exercises can be performed lying down, sitting, kneeling or standing on the cart.
The Reformer is widely used in Pilates. Its original structure with straps and pulleys, allows to work the whole body, in particular the lower and upper limbs, against an elastic resistance brought by the springs, and with a dynamic return. The abdominal muscles respond very well to the exercises performed on the Reformer. The variety of exercises it offers and its fun aspect make it a great tool for individual and group training as well as for physical therapy.
The Cadillac or wall unit, also known as the trapeze table, is an effective tool developed by Joseph Pilates when, during the First World War, he was working in an prison camp hospital rehabilitating war wounded. To preserve the strength and mobility of bedridden patients, Joseph Pilates attached springs to the beds and created the Cadillac prototype.
His intuition yielded excellent results on patients who healed faster when using it. Overcoming health issues caused by injuries and disabilities, they regained their health more quickly by recovering faster.
The machine also consists of a series of adjustable moving parts and springs that provide strength, all connected to a frame of posts that resembles a canopy bed. The Cadillac is the largest of the Pilates Machines. It has a very complete system of bars, springs, trapeze and suspensions. It allows for full body training of the lower and upper limbs and abdominal muscles in a safe environment. The work surface also allows for matwork, stretching and manual work in therapy and rehabilitation.
The Towers, represented by a vertical frame, are removable and additional elements to the Reformer and Matwork. They have some of the attributes of the Cadillac (bars, springs) and therefore allow for a variety of work on the Reformer and Matwork. They will be useful for training and physical therapy. They are suitable for individual and group use.
The chair helps to improve strength and flexibility. It provides stability, balance and control in different positions (standing, sitting or lying down). It requires a remarkable harmony between body and mind and therefore concentration.
This machine is also equipped with springs with different attachment possibilities (more resistance). It allow the adaptation to the needs of different clients and the implementation of many combinations of movements to strengthen, coordinate and balance.
The Wunda Chair belongs to the family of chairs designed by Joseph Pilates.
The new design of the Wunda Chair makes it even easier to use, more comfortable and stronger.
The stability of the Combo Chair allows you to perform alternating and simultaneous step movements using the two pedals. Working on the wunda chair classique develops balance and strengthens the core muscles.
Machine work is a great physical discipline, essential in learning Pilates to optimise and intensively digest the entire work method. With the help of these machines, you will become more efficient and achieve your goals faster, allowing you to work to perfection in breathing, alignment, strength, flexibility and control. Your progress will be more obvious on the machines.
We will work on the specific needs of each student with traditional but also more contemporary composition.
Each muscle group is completely isolated on the machine to work on specific needs or physical therapy. This work is used to break down a movement into parts and restore or correct the neuro-muscular pathways of movement.
